ACTION Plumbing and Heating Excited About Solar Energy!
You wouldn’t believe how people’s eyes light up when we tell them that we can install a system that has them pay nothing for their water heating costs for 60% of the year, in fact, they stop dead in their tracks when they hear this bit of information. But it doesn’t stop there, most pool systems for example, pay for themselves in one to five years and the pool season can be extended for up to two additional months (April to October). Another example, in-floor heating or “hydronics” is an efficient way to heat your home by circulating solar heated water underneath or within the floor. Commercial and industrial applications are some of the most cost effective systems for solar hot water, the more water that needs to be heated, the more money a solar water heating system can save. As solar systems have such high reliability, a properly installed solar hot water system will require little maintenance and should last more than 20 years! And did we mention, pay nothing for water heating costs? A solar water-heating system uses clean, non-polluting energy from the sun to heat water. It minimizes the expense of electricity or fossil fuel to heat water and reduces the associated environmental impacts. An important note to make is that water heating accounts for 20 to 30% + of an average household’s total energy use and creates about the same proportion of greenhouse gas emissions. Over 20 years, a solar water heater displaces more than 50 tons of carbon dioxide emissions created by an electric water heater. Solar energy can provide up to 60% of annual hot water demand plus solar energy systems increase the resale value of any property, or you can even take it with you when you move! All in all solar is a winner in everyone’s lit up eyes.
